Ford Australia announces the return of the street-legal, track-ready Mustang Dark Horse for 2026, featuring a collaboration with V8 Supercars team Triple Eight Race Engineering to create the exclusive T8-Spec Pack.

The 2026 Mustang Dark Horse lineup will include up to 500 vehicles, with a limited 250 featuring the T8-Spec Pack. Those with the T8-Spec package will be upgraded as a Ford Licensed Accessory by Ford Australia at the Plant 2 facility in Broadmeadows, Victoria.

Triple Eight Race Engineering, known as Red Bull Ampol Racing, is Australia's most successful Supercars team. To celebrate their Mustang racing in the championship, Ford Australia has created a package bringing championship-winning DNA to the road.

“The Mustang Dark Horse is already the pinnacle of performance, but T8-Spec takes it to a new level of track-focused capability,” said Ambrose Henderson, Director of Marketing, Ford Australia.

“Partnering with Triple Eight Race Engineering, we’ve created a vehicle that celebrates our racing heritage and offers enthusiasts a unique, bespoke numbered collector's item, upfitted in Melbourne.”

Customers purchasing a Mustang Dark Horse with T8-Spec Pack will be invited to an exclusive Track Experience at Queensland Raceway in early 2027, where they can engage with the Triple Eight team and explore the vehicle's full potential.

"All of us at Triple Eight Race Engineering are incredibly proud to be partnering with Ford, and the Mustang Dark Horse T8-Spec is a fantastic way to celebrate our return to the track with the Blue Oval,” said Triple Eight Race Engineering Managing Director Jamie Whincup.
