Over 50 GT cars are set to compete at Phillip Island for the Shannons opening round as both GT World Challenge Australia powered by AWS and Monochrome GT4 Australia kick off their seasons. Monochrome GT4 Australia will feature a record 34 entries, reflecting its rapid growth since becoming a standalone series with SRO Motorsports Australia in 2024.
The series has seen increased participation from local and international drivers. Defending champions, including Tom Hayman (Silver Cup), Aaron Seton and Jason Gomersall (Silver-Am), and Jacob Lawrence (Am Cup, now Silver-Am with Lachlan Mineeff), return to defend their titles. Eight manufacturers are confirmed for the season opener, underscoring global support.

GT World Challenge Australia welcomes McLaren, raising the manufacturer count to seven for 2026, joining Audi, Aston Martin, Ferrari, Lamborghini, Mercedes-AMG, and Porsche. The field features both returning and new drivers, with more names to be announced.

“We’re grateful for the strong response from teams and manufacturers, with over 50 cars expected for Phillip Island. Monochrome GT4 Australia’s full 34-car grid is a great start, and we’re seeing ongoing interest from past and new drivers for future rounds,” said Ben McMellan, CEO SRO Motorsports Australia.
“I am really looking forward to the continued growth for GT racing in Australia, which I would like thank all the competitors, manufacturers and our partners for their unwavering support,” he added.
